Functional Style: How to Choose the Perfect Paintball Outfit
When people think about paintball nowadays, they automatically revert to the high-tech, gear-filled outfits depicted in movies.
The truth is that players of all ages and skill levels really can make paintball fun for everyone, even children. To do so, you need to learn how to choose the perfect paintball outfit.
When you shop, you’ll find all the gear you need to make paintball fun for the entire family, including women. So, let’s dive in and take a look at what you should keep in mind when choosing your paintball gear.
Paintball Masks
A paintball mask should cover your entire face, including your ears and forehead. You want a mask that has good airflow to avoid getting foggy lenses. Make sure the lens is made of shatterproof material, such as polycarbonate, and that it gives you a wide field of view.
Try on the mask before you buy it to make sure it’s comfortable and doesn’t obstruct your breathing. Most importantly, make sure the mask meets safety standards set by the Paintball Equipment Manufacturers Association.
Baseball Cap
The brim of the hat should be stiff enough to protect from getting hit by paintballs, but not so stiff that it interferes with your vision. Make sure that the hat should be comfortable to wear, with an adjustable strap to ensure a snug fit. You’ll want to make sure the hat is made from breathable material to help keep you cool during play.
Paintball Gloves
Most gloves are made from either leather or synthetic materials. Leather is more durable and will offer better protection, but it is also more expensive. Synthetic materials are lighter and usually cheaper, but they will not last as long.
Some gloves have straps that go around the wrist to secure them, while others simply slip on. Some gloves also have fingers that are fully enclosed, while others just cover the palm.
Gloves should be snug but not too tight. They should allow you to grip your paintball marker comfortably and move your fingers freely. Make sure you try on the airsoft paintball gloves before you buy them to ensure a proper fit.
Long Pants
Functional paintball long pants should provide good coverage and protection from the elements, while still allowing you to move freely. Look for a comfortable fit that is not too tight or too loose. Breathable fabrics are important to help keep you cool and dry during active play.
If you plan on playing in cold weather, choose a pair of pants with thermal properties to help keep you warm. Most importantly, make sure the pants you select offer good coverage and protection from paintballs.
Long Sleeves
Consider the climate you will be playing in and choose a material that will wick away sweat and keep you cool in warmer temperatures. Think about the type of jersey you will be wearing over your long sleeve.
If you plan on wearing a heavier jersey, choose a lighter long sleeve to avoid overheating. Make sure the long sleeve fits snugly around your arms and chest so that it doesn’t interfere with your movement.
